Other activities
Active
You can go horse riding on many of the beaches you will visit. There
are a lot of sand dunes around too so sandboarding is there for you to
try also. In Jeri have a go at kite buggying. We often play volleyball,
soccer and other beach games during your trips also.
Shopping
In the towns and villages you can usually buy all the things you
need, there are many tourist shops also which sell all sorts of
interesting local arts and crafts. Clothing can be purchased also but we
do recommend that you bring what you need with you as prices can be a
little high for imported goods and the selection can be a little sparse.
In Fortaleza there are 2 huge shopping malls with air-con, food courts
and all the western labels, and Fortaleza night market along the Biera
el Mar (promenade) is a great shopping experience!
Nightlife
The nightlife differs up and down the coast dramatically depending on
where you are. Obviously Fortaleza being a large city has hundreds of
bars, clubs and places to eat, we can advise you on where to go here,
the Brazilian city night life is something of an experience! Cumbuco has
developed a chilled evening scene but has it's fare share of parties and
there is always somewhere to go for a few beers and a laugh! There are
also a couple of top restaurants in Cumbuco, the Famous 'Gaucho's' steak
house which brings its meat in from Argentina and the Dutch Restaurant
0031, which serves a very nice meal.
Most of the smaller towns offer a quieter night scene still being local
fishing villages, but there is always some place to eat and drink. Jeri
is altogether different and is rather like what you'd experience on a
Thai island only without the hedonism. It's cool, friendly and has a
great party vibe both day and night!
Well-being
It is quite easy to stay fit and healthy in Brazil, there is endless
fresh fruit and vegetables available, you can buy drinking water almost
anywhere and there are plenty of hammocks to take your rest in. Quite
naturally you might want to party a little during your stay here and
drink a few cocktails etc. We recommend you keep a balance on these
activities while you're here and during our trips there is quite often a
chance of morning yoga and meditation practice if you want to take part.
Our trips are by no means what you may call a 'health retreat' but we
have found that living with this climate and lifestyle is much more
enjoyable when you're well rested, hydrated and physically feeling good.
Other wellness options are available such as massage etc.
